Something to look forward to

I haven’t watched the actual opera yet because I’m saving it as an incentive to finish my grading this week. But here’s the rehearsal documentary:

If you 1) are interested in this DVD for the same reason I am and 2) are short on time, I suggest beginning at about 4.05. No interview (Röschmann seems not to do those very often) but there is singing, and it’s great.

  2. Thank you for this! This saved my working day.Maestro Harnoncourt’s comment and Frau Röschmann’s reaction to it was very nice to see…

I couldn’t find the DVD in Amazon yet…

    1. I didn’t see that video – just watched it now. Yet another music festival I wish I lived closer to!

the UK Amazon is doing better than the US one – no sign of it on ours.

  4. Thanks sooooooooooooooo much for sharing this video. Rehearsal videos totally rock. I have been a Harnoncourt fan for ages, and of course you know I am a Röschmann-head (I love seeing Dorothea playing “herself” in these rehearsals.) I sang in a community performance of TBB years ago and this really brings back memories. Now I absolutely HAVE to get this dvd.

    1. I really enjoy the video of the rehearsals too – I wish there were more of it!

The dvd is great – I’ve watched bits of it, because I haven’t had time to sit down and watch the whole thing, but the parts I’ve heard have been really lovely.
