Just because, here is the overture to La Finta Giardiniera.
It’s impossible to ever get sick of Mozart, I think. His music has that perfect combination of clarity and complexity – it’s like you can see through it and follow all the little individual bits all at once – and out of all those little interconnected moving parts something bigger always emerges. Kind of magic, you know? I haven’t heard this overture before as far as I can remember, but this strikes me as a good performance of it – the beginning has a good strong rhythm, and as that opening section develops you can hear all the string parts speaking to one another (e.g. at 0.40 or so). The mood change at about 2.30 is nice too.
