It looks like I finally will have to dip my toe into French Baroque opera. It seems everyone is talking about it. The cast is wonderful and the production looks very controversial! How can I resist?
It’s okay, it’s only Jonathan Kent, nobody’s head will explode. But if you wish to go further, there’s an interview with William Christie on youtube wherein he says some interesting things about productions and directors in general. It’s a very nuanced line.
